I (Heart) NY Subway Maps

This lovely, stunningly-designed heart-shaped map of the NYC subway system is among the several such maps created by a pair of Korean graphic designers called Zero Per Zero.
A portable map version is available for sale, though they are sent from Korea so shipping might be a tad expensive.

This makes me think about the fact that almost all metropolitan transit maps are (unbeknown to most of their ridership) not drawn to scale. Yet those maps have a powerful capacity to determine those people’s sense of place, scale, and distance.
Perhaps if everyone conceived of their city as a heart-shaped space, people would be more polite to one another?
